Today was my first official day in Cape Town, and it has been lovely so far. The internet access is quite good (we’re paying per megabyte of usage at the hostel but get wireless) so I should be in touch.

There are only 3 girls from the trip here so far, and everyone else is arriving periodically today. In the morning we decided to walk around Long Street, where there are a lot of coffee shops/stores/bars etc. and in the surrounding streets. It is great weather, although a little chilly when you’re not in the sunlight. Here are a few photos to make this post somewhat interesting:

My room! I'm living with 2 other girls, and my bed is the one by the window (yes, i took the best one...there has to be some benefit to flying in first)



With table mountain! While walking around we found a beautiful garden area, and there were a bunch of school kids playing in these kind of mini-quads of grass. It seemed like recess time, which of course made us think about how good recess used to be in elementary school. This garden was right in front of a large school, and reminded me of Bombay when we would go across the street to the Embassy to use their fields and playgrounds.
